Donna Mae Metzger age 94 passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Brethren Care Village in Ashland, Ohio.

She was born in Shelby on September 5, 1931 to Andrew and Mary (Harter) Metzger. Donna attended the Morton and Will one room schools in Sharon Township and graduated from Shelby High School in 1949, and was a lifelong Shelby resident. She was employed with Miami Systems, formerly Shelby Business Forms, for 40 years. In the time that she was there, Donna was secretary to five of the company's presidents. Afterwards, she was employed at the Private Industry Council in Mansfield as an Administrative Assistant for 7 years, retiring in 1996.

Donna was a lifelong member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she served on the Finance Council for over 25 years, many of those years as the council secretary. She volunteered for church dinners, festivals, and was also a money counter for the church, she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Donna was a member of the former Our Lady of the Rosary Circle Daughters of Isabella where she held various offices including Regent for several years. She was a member of the Ohio State Circle Daughters of Isabella where she held the offices of State Trustee, State Secretary, and State Vice Regent. Donna was also a member of the former Shelby Business and Professional Women's Club where she held several offices including President. She was honored in 1977 as Woman of the Year by the Shelby Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a member of the Ohio Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs where she served as District Director and a member of the State Board. While she served on the State Board, Donna chaired the Women Responsible for Accident Prevention Committee. While chairing this committee, Donna worked directly with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to arrange eight hour Defensive Driving Courses in the area. She was a member of the United Way of Shelby Board for over 15 years. She was a member of GAF Employees Federal Credit Union, and served as Secretary from the time it was chartered until it merged with another credit union. Donna was a member of the Morton School Reunion Committee and was also a proud member of the Shelby High School Alumni Association. She was a member of the Sociables, and Chapter 84 Richland County Public Employees Retirement Association, where she served as Secretary for many years.

In her free time Donna enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking care of her yard.

Survivors include one niece Margaret Coon and three nephews, Mark (Stephanie) Metzger, Joe (Stacie) Metzger and Jim (Lesa) Metzger.

Great nieces and nephews Emily Coon, Sam (Lauren) Coon, McKenzie (James) Nemeth, Alex (Cheyenne) Metzger, Johnathan (Alyssa) Metgzer, Justin (Morgan) Metzger, Matthew (Abby) Metzger, Benjamin Metzger; numerous great-great nieces, nephews, as well as many friends, cousins, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers Andrew "Buddy" Metzger and Ambrose (Betty) Metzger; and her nephew Joe Coon.

Friends may visit the family at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral mass will follow at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 11:30AM. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment taking place at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby.
