Dorothy J. Hoover, age 85, resident of Shelby died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 in MedCentral/Shelby Hospital.
Born December 10, 1924 in Shelby to Charles W. and Edna (Kuhn) Keck she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. A 1942 graduate of Shelby High School, she was employed with the Shelby Mutual Insurance Co., Keil's Department Store, and Cashman's Insurance.
Dorothy was an active member of the First United Church of Christ where she served as financial secretary for 30 years, taught Sunday school for over 30 years, and was a member of the Women's Guild. She enjoyed crochet and embroidery work and sewing.
Survivors include her son, David (Judy) Hoover of North Canton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Mackenzie (Brad) Spalding and Brianna Abbott; two great grandchildren, Carlyn and Colton Spalding; her sisters-in-law, Jane Keck of Shelby and Delores Geiger of Bucyrus; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Hoover in 2000 and one brother, Donald Keck in 1986.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday from the First United Church of Christ in Shelby. Rev. Dr. Richard Leo Rader will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery.
