Eric D. Kooken, age 40, resident of Shelby died Monday September 25, 2017 in Mansfield. Born December 4, 1976 in Shelby he had been a former resident of Mansfield and had lived in the Shelby area the majority of his life. He was a 1995 graduate of Shelby High School. Eric loved to golf and had a passion for automobiles. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. He is survived by his mother Susan Kooken of Shelby; his father Daniel (Patricia) Kooken of Hooksett, New Hampshire; his grandparents Jack and Evelyn Kooken of Shelby; Aunts, Linda (Al) Striker of Shelby, Janet Walters (Barb Keefer) of Hurricane, W.VA., and Elaine Adkins of Shelby; Uncle, Gary (Jill) Kooken of Columbus and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Homer and Lucille Walters, his uncles Brian Kooken and Tom Adkins. Memorial services will be held 7:00 PM Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Pastor Michael Mahek will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
