Gary Phelps Obituary Gary L. Phelps age 73, resident of Troutman, NC, died Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Mansfield, Ohio at the Arbors at Mifflin. Born July 29, 1948, in Pineville, KY to Earnst and Verda (Johnson) Phelps, he had been a North Carolina resident for the majority of his life. After his 1967 graduation from Shelby High School, Gary had joined the United States Navy. He owned and operated Phelco Properties in North Carolina for numerous years until his retirement. Gary was passionate about real estate and enjoyed being around the water, especially boating. He is survived by his daughter Sherri (Jason) Massie of Shelby and son Terry (Lori) Phelps of Hickory, NC; four grandchildren Samantha Green, Tyler Green, Kobe Green and Tessa Phelps; one brother James (Judy) Phelps of Shelby and sister Julia (Ed) Morrell of Temecula, CA, nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Ernest and Terry Phelps: and his beloved K9 Corgie companion Buddy.
