George Brown Obituary George William Brown, age 79 of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Shelby on Friday, April 4, 2025. George was born on February 4, 1946 to the late Elbert and Dorothy (Crisp) Brown in Shelby, Ohio. He graduated from Shelby High School in the 1964 class. Over the years, he has worked with the Plymouth Locomotive, as a plant manager for Plant 2 for Copper Weld and Ohio Steel Tube and a body shop manager for G&M Body Shop and Joyce Buick. He was a member of the Shelby Lodge of Freemasons #350 and Mansfield Liederkranz. He and his wife, Sharon, belonged to the Sandusky Sailing Club where they met many friends over the years and enjoyed spending many wonderful summers on Lake Erie on their sailboat, the 'Better Knot'. When they were not sailing on Lake Erie, George and Sharon could be found at their home away from home at the Outer banks in Buxton, North Carolina. With his pilot license, George would fly his wife Sharon to Columbus for dinner and to other destinations. In his younger days, the family remembered him using his ham radio to talk with people all over the world. Those who will cherish his memories include his children, Danielle (Spence) Hamilton of Ashland, Ohio, and Christopher Brown of Shelby; and four grandchildren; Dakota Hamilton, Gabrielle Hamilton, Zachary Brown, and A'Jream 'A.J.' Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Brown of 60 years, who he wed on October 2, 1964. Friends and family may come to honor his life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will follow starting at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic Service followed with Reverend Russel Yoak. An interment will follow the funeral service at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in Georges memory to the First Lutheran Church, 33 Broadway Street, Shelby, Ohio and/or Shelby Lodge of Freemasons #350, 7085 State Route 61 North, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
