Helen McKinney Obituary Helen G. McKinney, age 72, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Arbors at Mifflin. Born May 21, 1949 in Shelby, Ohio to Arnold and Ottie (Payton) McKinney, she had been a Mansfield area resident for the majority of her life. Helen worked as a waitress for the Holiday Inn and Days Inn hotels for many years. She was a talented artist who loved drawing and wood working and also enjoyed doing word puzzles. What she loved most was being in the company of friends and family. She had a dear friend, Rick Hipp, that she went to breakfast with often. Her very best friend, Laura, was like a sister to her and they spent time together daily. She is survived by her three sons Shannon Stamper, Dallas and Shane; four grandchildren; two brothers Don (Wilma) McKinney of Shelby, Gary (Mildred) McKinney of Muncie, IN; and one sister Brenda (Steven) James of Shelby, and other relatives. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Lovell Spangler and Maxine Gibson; three brothers Lee R. McKinney, Arnold B. McKinney Jr., SP 4 Forrest McKinney who lost his life serving his country in Vietnam, and sister-in-law Geneva McKinney as well as an infant brother and sister. The family would like to thank the Arbors at Mifflin and OhioHealth Hospice for taking great care of Helen throughout her illness. A graveside service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday August 4, 2021 in Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Kathy Kollar officiating.
