Jacqueline “Jackie” (Garverick) Hunter

October 21, 1960 – October 30, 2026

Lord Help Heaven, Here Comes Jackie!

Heaven just got a little louder.

If you thought heaven was a peaceful place, you might want to think again. Jackie arrived on October 30, 2026, and the Lord has officially been put on notice.

Jackie fought hard throughout her life. She was a survivor in every sense of the word — strong, stubborn, and never one to give up without a fight. Life threw plenty at her, but she kept going with the same determination and grit that made her who she was. You could argue with Jackie, you could disagree with Jackie, but you sure as hell couldn't tell her she wasn't a fighter. That stubborn streak was part of what made her so fiercely herself, and it carried her through more than most people will ever know. She fought hard to live, loved hard while she was here, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.

Jackie was a wild woman with a mouth that could make a sailor blush, absolutely zero filter, and no interest whatsoever in pretending to be someone she wasn't. She was unapologetically herself, spoke her mind whether you wanted to hear it or not, loved fiercely, and always found a way — even if it was a little shady. You always knew where you stood with Jackie. She would tell you how it was, probably with a few choice words thrown in for good measure, and then love you just as hard as she cussed you out.

If there was one thing her family could count on, it was her signature greeting whenever the phone rang or a voicemail came through, delivered with all the enthusiasm in the world:

"WHAT'D YA HAVE FOR SUPPER?!"

That wasn't just a question. That was Jackie. Her family would give anything to hear that familiar voice one more time, asking about supper as if the world's problems could be solved simply by knowing what everyone had for dinner.

Speaking of food, Jackie loved it all. Pizza, Chinese food, shrimp cocktail (even though she was allergic to it and once made her face swell to twice its size), and snacks of just about any kind — you name it. She could snack anyone right out of a room and probably wouldn't have even noticed you were gone. If there was food nearby, she knew about it. If there wasn't, that was a problem someone needed to fix. Heaven better have a well-stocked kitchen because Jackie is not going to be impressed with a shortage of snacks or a lack of good chicken cacciatore.

Jackie was also a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, which says a lot about her loyalty, patience, and ability to survive repeated disappointment. Every Sunday, she could be found cussing at the television, cheering them on, and wondering what the hell they were doing. No matter how many times the Browns broke her heart, she stuck by them. Heaven may have its own football team, but Jackie will probably still be looking for the Browns game and yelling at the screen.

She also loved true-crime television and watched it with the intensity of an honorary detective. She was probably solving the case before the detectives finished introducing themselves and had already decided who was guilty before the first commercial break. Heaven's mysteries don't stand a chance. And whoever has been sneaking snacks up there should probably be nervous, because Jackie is officially on the case.

When she was able, Jackie loved going to bingo. One trip, however, became the stuff of family legend. On her way inside, she slipped on the ice and went down, losing everything she was carrying except her bingo money. Somehow, through all the chaos, the one thing she managed to hold on to was the money she needed to play bingo. The woman lost everything but the one thing she actually needed. Priorities, people!

Jackie also made some unforgettable memories with her family. One of the favorites involved We're Going on a Bear Hunt, a beloved story that became a real-life adventure when Jackie took the kids on their own bear hunts. There was also a memorable trip to Georgia that included a visit to a waterpark (if you know, you know). Between the waterpark adventure and the beloved bear hunts with the kids, Jackie left her family with stories they will be laughing about for years to come.

Those are the moments that will continue to bring smiles long after the tears have dried.

Jackie leaves behind her two sons, Keith Hunter and Chad Hunter; her daughter-in-law, Dawn, wife of Chad; grandchildren Hailey and Holden Hunter; her daughter, Kelly Tibbs, and significant other, Scott Tilton; and their son, Jet Tilton. They will miss her more than words can say, even if some of those words would probably make Jackie proud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother, Rob Garverick, with whom she will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio, during a private service.

Jackie leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless stories, plenty of laughter, and a family who knew her as only they could. She was loud, she was stubborn, she was hilarious, and she was one of a kind. She wasn't perfect, and she never claimed to be. But she was Jackie, through and through, and there will never be another quite like her.

Rest easy, Momma. May heaven have unlimited pizza, the best Chinese takeout imaginable, endless snacks, lucky bingo cards, a never-ending supply of true-crime shows, and a Cleveland Browns team that finally knows what the hell it's doing — and maybe even makes it to the Super Bowl this year! That would be JUST her luck!

You were one of a kind, loved beyond measure, and absolutely impossible to replace. You left us with a lifetime of stories, a thousand reasons to laugh, and a hole in our hearts that no amount of food can fill. And if heaven has a complaints department, we hope they've been thoroughly warned.

The family will be holding a memorial service at Barkdull Funeral Home on November 6, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Joe Stafford officiating.

Per Jackie's final wishes, the family is requesting that everyone wear Cleveland Browns gear. YES, EVEN IF YOU'RE A SQUEALERS FAN! She will also settle for OSU attire but just know that if you aren't an avid Browns fan, she will haunt you.

We love you, Momma. We miss you, and we'd give anything for one more phone call. Just one more —

"WHAT'D YA HAVE FOR SUPPER?!"
