James Hubbard Obituary James 'Jim' Arnold Hubbard, age 91, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, surrounded by his family at home.
James was born on January 12, 1931, in Honaker, Virginia, to the late Arnold and Magnora (Miller) Hubbard. He graduated from Honaker High School and then joined the U.S. Navy serving on the Midway during the Korean War. Jim was employed with the Shelby Business Forms for thirty-seven years. He had been a Shelby resident for over sixty years. Memberships include the American Legion #326 of Shelby and the Woody Ridge Golf Course. Jim was a fantastic ping-pong player, almost unbeatable. His big love was the game of golf. He had 12 holes-in-one and was known for his sharp short game.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Baldwin) Hubbard, whom he wed in September of 1955; a daughter, Wanda Ruth (Mark) Hess of Shelby, Ohio; a son, James 'Len' (Judy) Hubbard of Sidney, Ohio; five grandchildren, Josh (Shaan) Hess, Chelsea (Kevin) Weissman, Lindsay (Kaleb) Headings, Sarah (Jordan) Frilling, Matthew Hubbard; two step-grandchildren, Rusty (Jenny) Shaffer, Eric (Amanda) Shaffer; 7 great-grandchildren, Kaycee Hess, Max Hess, Sophia Headings, Lillian Headings, Carter Frilling, Archie Frilling, and one on the way; six step-great-grandchildren, Wyatt Shaffer, Zach Shaffer, Austin Shaffer, Dailyn Shaffer, Morgan Shaffer, Marian Shaffer; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Elizzabeth Shaffer, and Alexander Shaffer; a brother, Bill Hubbard of Shelby; sister, Betty (Garland) Shepherd of Virginia; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by five sisters, Virginia Whited, Sadie Street, Ann Marcolina, Mary Brewer, and Myrtle Meyers: and two brothers, Jack Hubbard and Jerry Hubbard.
Military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Squad on Monday, February 14, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. Family and friends are then invited to proceed to Oakland Cemetery following the observation of military honors for graveside services.
