Janice Boyce Obituary Janice C. Boyce, age 100, resident of Willard, Ohio and former Shelby, Ohio resident, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Willows of Willard Nursing Facility surrounded by her loving family. Janice was born May 28, 1924, in Shelby to the late Fred and Harriet (Yarman) Stroup. She had resided in Conyers, GA for over 44 years, before moving back to Ohio in 2022. She was a graduate of Shelby High School in the class of '42. Shortly after graduation, Janice married the love of her life, Charles W. Boyce, on August 1, 1942. The two of them would settle down in Shelby where they would go on to have three children and raise their family there. Janice worked in a variety of fields during her working career, beginning in banking in Mansfield until she was needed at home to tend to the children. Janice sacrificed her career transitioning to becoming a homemaker, where she could take care of her children and home. Janice resumed her working career as a saleswoman for O'Neils located in Mansfield. She worked there until 1978 and, after a brief time in Tennessee, moved to Conyers, Georgia. There, she worked another 12 years with K-Mart as a supervisor of cashiers. Janice was a follower of Christ and a regular member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby. She was known for being crafty and enjoyed working with ceramics. She loved being outside and found peace tending to her flower gardens. Janice was a fantastic cook, and she was known to make the best pies. She is survived by her one son, Charles W. (Pia) Boyce, Jr. of Italy; two daughters, Candace A. Bobo nee Boyce of Sunbury, OH and Cheryl (Devon) Boyce of Prosper, TX; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles W. Boyce, whom passed away in 2014; brothers, Paul and Norman Stroup; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Stroup and Jeanne 'Jeanie' Stroup. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM the following day at the funeral home. Dr. Reverend Russell Yoak will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery.
