Obituary

Janice Magers Obituary Janice H. Magers, age 86, of Shelby died unexpectedly on Monday, December 6, 2021, at OhioHealth Mansfield. Born July 17, 1935, in Shelby, to Harold Bruce and Catherine Helena (Dell) Pfahler, Janice had been a lifelong Shelby resident. She was employed as the assistant manager of Shelby Foodland. Janice had also worked at the Shelby Equity, and retired from First National Bank, currently known as Civista. She was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Young Timers- Mothers Club, and Card Club. Her hobbies included traveling, shopping at flea markets, reading, working crossword puzzles, baking and cooking, going to card club, shows, and casinos. She had visited many countries including Australia and New Zealand and had been on 16 cruises. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attended all of her grandkids and great grandkids activities and sporting events. Survivors include her loving husband James Magers whom she married November 28, 1952; her daughter Marcy (Doug) Holton of St. Louisville, OH, son Kim Magers of Mansfield, daughter Sally Staton (Bobby Hicks Jr.) of Plymouth, and son John (Tammy) Magers of Shelby; seven grandchildren Melanie Tackett, Melissa Lybarger, Adam (Katie) Magers, Jessica (Steven) Bolen, Rachel (Michael) Adkins, Slade Magers, and Will Magers; six great grandchildren Ryan, Caleb, Kenae, Connor, Kennedy, and Jonathan; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Joseph (Juanita) Pfahler, and grandson Mark Berlin. Private family graveside services will be held in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery with Chaplain Dan Gates officiating.
