John LaBarge Obituary John Arthur LaBarge, age 76, passed away Sunday, May 19th in AVITAs Ontario Hospital, after complications from a massive heart attack on Wednesday evening.
Born July 8, 1947 in Columbus, OH, he was the son of Arthur James and May Lily (Mattox) LaBarge who preceded him in death. He was a resident of Shelby his entire life. On July 28, 1990, he married Mary Kathryn Cooke at the First Christian Church, and she survives.
John was employed by Ohio Seamless Tube, drove truck, and retired from MTD after 17 years as a beloved IT tech. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and in recent years, riding his Ranger around the Shelby property to feed the wildlife and check his cameras. For many years, he had fun as a part of the Hancock pyrotechnics crew, setting off Fourth of July fireworks displays, mainly in Hilliard, OH. He was a proud life member of the NRA. According to granddaughter Megan, he gave the best bear hugs.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Johnsen and grandsons Christoffer and Xackarie Cole. He is survived by his wife Kathy Labarge, sister Amy (Don) Jones, daughter Kristi (Don Webb) Eagle, grandchildren Megan (Brian) Faugl, David Friesner, Khyle Friesner, Codee Cole and Jeweleeanna Eagle. Brother and sisters-in-law include Larry Cooke, Jane (John) Jones, and Karen Cooke. He has numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Per Johns wishes there will be no services. His daughter Kristi is building a special urn for his remains. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions could be sent to the NRA at 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030, or the Richland County Dog Warden & Adoption Center at 810 Home Rd N, Mansfield, OH 44906.
