Kurt Skarl Obituary Kurt F. Skarl age 78 of Shelby died Monday, January 17, 2022, at Crestwood Care Center. Born September 17, 1943, in Memphis, TN to Harold and Ethel (Kukis) Skarl, he had been a Shelby resident since 1968. A 1962 graduate of Parma High School, Kurt had attended the Ohio State University, where he played hockey. He was the owner and operator of Skarl Motors in Shelby for over 50 years. Kurt was a past member of the Shelby Rotary, Kiwanis, Shelby Country Club, Ad Club, and the Shelby Athletic Club for over 30 years. He was an avid sports fan, especially rooting on the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and various hockey teams. Kurt is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy (Barney) Skarl, whom he wed February 5, 1966; daughter Sandra (Darron Maxhimer) Skarl of Westerville, Deborah (Michael) Lucas of Copley, OH; aunts Betty and Jean Kukis, several cousins and many great friends, including his sales manager of 24 years, Bruce Gerhart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three uncles, Peter, Howard, and Edward Kukis, Cousin Nancy Reed and brother-in-law Jack Barney. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Tuesday January 25, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:30 AM from the funeral home. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment held in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Per the family's wishes, please practice social distancing and mask wearing.
