Linda Curry Obituary The family of Linda Curry grieves her passing and celebrates a life full of love and a giving spirit. She was born April 19, 1943 in Shelby, OH to James and Teresa Kaylor. Linda left her earthly body on December 3, 2021 and ascended into heaven to meet her Lord and Savior. Her last three months were spent at The Good Shepherd in Ashland. Though she had been diagnosed with ALS over two years ago, she accepted and never complained about her condition.
Linda grew up in Tiro, OH and graduated from the first combined class at Buckeye Central in 1961. Following graduation, she moved to Cleveland and attended a modeling school and modeled cosmetics. She moved back to Tiro and became an executive secretary at AMF. In 1967 she married Denny Curry and moved to Charlotte, NC where their four children were born. In 1975 they moved back to Shelby to raise their family.
Linda was a very involved member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church serving in various capacities including, Altar and Rosary Society, coordinating funeral dinners, communion distributor, member and past president of St. Marys school board, Palm Sunday Bake sale chair, Christmas Bazaar chair, preparing cabbage rolls, working Bingo and teaching CCD.
She was also active in the community delivering for Meals on Wheels, serving with the Hospital Guild, Ohio Reads volunteer, Helpline volunteer and was a Jess Rath award winner.
Linda was an avid reader who read at least 50 books a year, played bridge, travelled with Denny to 36 countries, spent time at her house on Lake Erie, and watched any sport, especially her beloved Cleveland Indians. Linda was probably most known around town for her prize-winning Lemon Meringue Pies!!
Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Denny, and her children Suzanne (Kevin) Medved of Wooster, OH, Stephanie (Trent) Cailor of Boardman, OH, Sheila (Dave) Gagnon of Tipp City, OH and Steve Curry of Shelby, OH. She adored her 8 grandchildren, Alexis, Dillon and Carter Cailor, Nathan, Emma and Andrew Gagnon, and Jillian and Jackson Curry.
Linda is also survived by her brother David (Judy) Kaylor, her sister Carol Ridenour as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, in laws (Paul and June Curry) and infant brother Jimmy Karl.
Friends may call on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Chris will officiate with interment following at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Lindas honor to Most Pure Heart of Mary Church at 29 West Street Shelby, OH 44875 or the ALS Association at PO Box 37022 Boone, IA 50037.
The family kindly requests that those visiting please be brief, wear masks and refrain from physical contact.
