Linda Shorter Obituary Linda D. Shorter, age 78 of Shelby, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, June 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 3, 1946 in Martin, Kentucky to James O. and Mabel K. (Goines) Mosley, she had spent the majority of her life living in the Shelby area. A 1965 graduate of Willard High School, Linda was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion O'Brian Post #326. She was employed with R.R. Donnelley for numerous years as well as Shelby City Schools as a bus driver. Driving bus was not only a job for Linda, it was her passion. For over 26 years, she looked forward to each day she could spend with the kids on her routes and after hour school events.
Linda loved to travel. She alongside her husband, always looked forward to getting together for 'Ohio Day' each year with their friends who were also wintering in Florida. She also enjoyed playing computer games, reading books, playing shuffle board and making finger loop blankets. More than anything, she loved her family. Especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hosting the family Christmas party was always the highlight to her year.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Lewis Shorter, whom she wed May 24, 1986; two daughters, Lorie (John) White of Shelby and Rebecca (Gary) Laferty of Willard; six grandchildren, Kayla (Julio) Cascante of Palm Bay, FL, Courtney (Daniel) Koby of Palm Bay, FL, Cole (Bailey) White of Columbus, Baylie (Chad) Wright of Ontario, Rylie (Fianc Brycen Burkhalter) White of Columbus, Daniel Laferty of Willard; seven great grandchildren, Carson, Anahi, Llewyn, Nara, Maren, JJ and Bodhi; one brother, James 'Hobo' (Faye) Mosley of Willard; as well as countless other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Greg Stockmaster in 2014.
Friends may visit at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor James Robinson officiating. Linda will be laid to rest at the little London Cemetery in Shelby at a later date.
