Marie A. Russell, age 91, longtime Shelby resident died Saturday February 4, 2012 in Grant Hospital Columbus.
Born March 26, 1920 in Shelby to Henry and Alma (Artz) Varchmin, she had been a lifelong Richland County resident. A 1938 graduate of Shiloh School, she had been employed with the Shelby Autocall and Shelby Seamless Tube Co. retiring in 1982.
Marie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Shiloh American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she had served as president.
During her lifetime, she enjoyed hunting with her husband, going to auctions and collecting antiques.
Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Kay Stephens of Gahanna; one son, Ronald Russell of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Lisa DiNucci of Merrimack, NH; Britt Stephens of Fleming Island, FL, and Claudine Russell of Quebec City, Canada; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Wise of London, Ohio, Emma Pritchard of Mansfield, and Shirley Shasky of Lexington; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Russell in 1997 and one brother, Eldo Varchmin, one sister Donna Fenner
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Reverend Brad McBee will officiate. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Barkdull Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
