Martha Stitt Obituary Mrs. Martha Ann (Gerster) Stitt, of Mansfield, sadly passed away after a long illness on December 8, 2020. She was born in Shelby, Ohio on June 18, 1953, to the late Elmer Joseph and Ada Mae (Long) Gerster. She graduated from Shelby Senior High School in 1971 and received an Associates Degree in Accounting from NorthCentral Technical College. After graduation, Martha worked at Gorman Rupp where she met her husband, Kenneth R. Stitt who survives. She also worked at St. Mary's School in Mansfield; Madison High School; First Merit Bank and then retired from working in the Water Department of Mansfield City Utilities. Martha was a member of St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church in Mansfield. Martha is survived by her husband Kenneth; her children, Brian E. Stitt, fiance Amber Lamp and grandchild Aidan Nichols; Mrs. Christine (Jason) Earlenbaugh and grandchild Wyatt Earlenbaugh, Eric J. Stitt and fiance Ashley McWhorter and grandchild Chloe McWorter; her siblings, Ellen (Steven) Haverfield, Mark (Amy) Gerster; sister-in-law Beverly (Thomas) Fasig; Mother-in- law, Mrs. Jeannette Stitt; nieces and nephews, Sara Smith, Mandy Durgan, Amy (Haverfield) Mitchell, Kevin Haverfield, Jeffrey Haverfield, David Gerster and Ian Gerster; Aunt Theresa Gerster, Uncle Norman Gerster and Aunt Joann Harman; as well as many cousins and great nieces and nephews whom she loved. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law Edwin Stitt. Martha loved baking especially with her daughter and her Turtle Cheesecake was a big hit for all the holiday meals. Martha also liked crafts and she took classes in flower arranging and Tole painting with her sister, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her laugh and sense of humor will be remembered by all who loved her. To keep everyone safe during this pandemic, a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
