Mary Madelyn Laughbaum, a cherished resident of Tiro, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Monday, July 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at home.
Born April 3, 1935, in Mount Victory, Ohio, to the late Roscoe and Sina Tackett, Mary led a life filled with warmth and love. She dedicated over 20 years of service as Office Manager at Leonhart Gas & Oil. She enjoyed playing volleyball and softball. Mary had a lifelong love for reading, especially sharing romance novels with the women in her family.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Ramon (Susan) Laughbaum, Jr., Randall (Jane) Laughbaum, Madelyn Laughbaum, and Cathy (Rob) Palmer. Her grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Pope, Todd (Stephanie) Pollock, Daryl Laughbaum, and Neil (Alicia) Laughbaum, along with her great-grandchildren Isabelle (John) Butler, Adam Laughbaum, Reid Laughbaum, Andrew Laughbaum, Kristen Laughbaum, and Austin (Amber) Hill, will continue to cherish her memory. Her great-great-grandchildren Winter, Nicklaus, and Kol Hill. Mary is also survived by her brother, Clement (Linda) Tackett, and sisters-in-law Mary Tackett and Mel Tackett, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her son Donald Laughbaum and siblings Flossie Lacey, Gloria Laipply, Lois Eden, Dorothy Burns, Ronnie Tackett, Bill Tackett, Franklin Tackett, Norman Tackett, Edie Roberts, Cinda Young, and Danny Tackett.
Friends and family are invited to honor Mary's life from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, July 17, 2026. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.barkdullfuneralhome.com.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her warmth and spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
