Mary Steele Obituary Mary Louise (May) Steele, age 87, passed away March 14, 2024, at Crestwood Care center in Shelby. Born November 18, 1936, to Clarence and Ruth (Moffitt) May in Mansfield, OH, she had been an area resident for the majority of her life. A 1954 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, she went on to become the owner of The Shoebox in Shelby for many years. She is survived by her two children; Cindy (Jeff) Dill and John (Sandy) Steele, three step-children; David, Mark and Beth Steele, two grandchildren; Erin Ross and Evan Dill, six great-grandchildren, and her sister Wanda (Charlie) Augustine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouses; Hugh Steele, Don Hicks, and David Steele, siblings; Geraldine (Neil) Garver and Charles 'Chuck' (Treva) May. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory at PO Box 644, Shelby, OH 44875 to help offset funeral costs.
