Paul “Lee” Stoodt, affectionately known to many as “Puff,” passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at the age of 75, at Cleveland Clinic-Avon Hospital in Avon, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Lee will be remembered for the love he shared and the lasting impact he had on those who knew him.
Born March 20, 1951, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Paul and Miriam Stoodt, Paul graduated from Plymouth High School in 1969. A self-employed insurance agent with Stoodt Insurance Agency, he was actively involved in his community, contributing to the Farm Bureau and the neighborhood Jolly Club, and was a dedicated member of the First United Church of Christ in Shelby.
Paul found joy in farming, particularly in raising "show pigs," Paul was a dedicated show pig breeder whose expertise in genetics and nutrition earned him respect in the livestock community. He enjoyed mentoring his grandchildren in 4-H, helping with feeding, care, and show preparation, and attending county and state fairs to watch them compete. He took pride in seeing pigs he bred and sold exhibited by families across the state. His passion for the swine industry, commitment to young exhibitors, and the relationships he built will be remembered by all who knew him. Paul was an enthusiastic fan of OSU football and basketball. Above all, his greatest happiness came from spending quality time with his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandy, whom he married on November 16, 1974; his daughters, Kristy (Keith) Vollrath of South Charleston, Ohio, Tracie (Jacob) Hoying Greenville, Ohio, and Heather (Charlie) Rea of Burlington, Kentucky; and his adored grandchildren, Kole, Kelsey, and Blake Vollrath, Chloe and Madison Hoying, and Summer and Sadie Rea. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Beak of Mattawan, Michigan and Dorothy (Allen) Arnold of Van Wert, Ohio, along with extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Paul's life at the First United Church of Christ, Shelby, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM officiated by Reverend James Robinson, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery.
