Robert Kennedy Obituary Robert Eugene Kennedy, 93, of Galion died on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion. Born February 13, 1928 in Akron to the late J Balis and Theora Elizabeth (Gottfried) Kennedy, he was a United States Army Veteran, having earned the rank of Technician Fifth Grade during World War II. Robert then worked for AK Steel as an Electric Furnace Superintendent until his retirement. Robert was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners, Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F&AM, and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Galion and the Gold Wing Road Riders Chapter B of Mansfield. An avid sports fan, Robert loved rooting for North Carolina Tar Heels Duke Blue Devils Basketball. He and his wife enjoyed the time they spent competing in the sport of archery and riding his motorcycle. Together they traveled in all 48 contiguous states as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Ann (Briggs) Kennedy whom he wed on June 11, 1949; three daughters, Susan Kennedy of Galion, Beverly (Allen) Jurek of Florida, and Rebecca (Carl) Armstrong of Shiloh; nine grandchildren, Michelle Kennedy, Joel Jurek, Stacie Wilkinson, Theresa Guilfoyle, John Armstrong, Elizabeth Armstrong, Jasen Cassady, Jennifer Robertson, and Robert Zirkel; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two brothers, James and Neil Kennedy. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a daughter; Maurene Jo Kennedy; a sister, Olive Rebecca Jensen; and a brother, Joseph Lee Kennedy. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday December 17, 2021 from 10:30 to 11:30AM. Masonic services will be performed following calling hours at 11:30. Pastor Ash Welch will officiate with private interment held at a later date.
