Ronald Peterson Obituary Ronald 'Ron' E. Peterson, age 71, of Ashland, died on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Crystal Care center in Ashland. Born January 8, 1950, in Shelby, to the late Henry J. and Nancy (Harmon) Petersen, Ron was a 1968 graduate of Shelby High School. He worked as a printing press operator for Carton Services and as a manager at Great Scott. Ron was a member of the American Legion Post #326 in Shelby. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University Football fan. He enjoyed drag racing, wrestling, and motorcycles. Anytime Ron was in Shelby he was sure to stop for Napoli's Pizza, it was his favorite. He will be remembered by all that knew and loved him as a happy man with a jolly laugh. Survivors include Ron's wife, Kathy (Swartz) Peterson of Ashland, whom he wed on May 14, 2011; two children, Trent E. Peterson of Shelby, and Jodi L. (Brian) Sands of Shelby; three stepchildren, Chris (Chasta) Rhine of Ashland, Jeff (Missy) Rhine of Ashland, and Matt (Tonya) Rhine of Rising Sun, IN; ten step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Cindy Petersen of Marion. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Petersen; grandson, Logan Rhine; and mother-in-law, Carol Swartz. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A funeral service for Ron will take place after the calling hours at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lester Champer officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad at the funeral home immediately after the service. Interment will then take place at Ashland Cemetery.
