Ronald Scheid Obituary Ronald Scheid, 89, a long time resident of Shelby, Ohio, passed away on January 5, 2024 in The Woodlands Texas. He moved into an assisted living apartment in The Woodlands, Texas in June of 2023 to be near his daughter. Born August 14, 1934 in Bellevue Ohio, he was a 1952 graduate of Bellevue High School. He attended Capital University in Columbus until beginning his service in the Army. He served as an MP in Korea and was chosen to be an Honor Guard to then Vice-President Nixon during his visit. While in Shelby, he was employed by The Shelby Mutual Insurance Company where he met his wife, Janet (Payne) Scheid. In 1963 he went on to become a claims manager with Grange Mutual Insurance Agency where he remained until his retirement. He was a long time member of The First Christian Church in Shelby, Ohio where he sang in the choir and served as both a deacon and liturgist. Additionally, he belonged to the Shelby Sertoma Club, and served on the Shelby City Council. In retirement Ron enjoyed playing golf with his friends in the senior league, and he especially enjoyed riding his bike with his friends in the Honda Goldwing Club, Chapter B. He is survived by his children, Susan (Jerry James) Gerber of Spring, Texas, and Stephanie (Brad) Yoder of Salt Lake City, Utah, 5 granddaughters, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet (Payne) Scheid, son David Scheid, his sister Lorene Reese, and his brother Eldon Scheid. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory, on Friday May 10, 2024 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Immediately following, a service of remembrance and celebration of life conducted by Pastor Steve Grover. Interment will be in Shelbys Oakland Cemetery and full military honors will be observed.
