Ruth Irene Grimm, age 83, of Shelby, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Brethren Care Village in Ashland, Ohio.

Born on April 1, 1943, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Radene (Waldruff) Bonecutter, Ruth was a graduate of Shelby High School. She went on to work as a teller at Richland Bank in Mansfield. Ruth was a devoted member of the Shelby First Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adeline Singing Group in Mansfield. Her love for travel took her to many destinations, and she cherished the time spent in Italy with her daughter, Dawn. She found joy in dining at Mexican restaurants, singing, and playing the organ. Ruth also loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her lifelong friend, Judy Norris and special friends, Pauline Stanford and Patti Jackson.

Ruth’s cherished memories will be held dear by her son, Todd (Angie) Shafer her daughter, Dawn Christopher; her beloved grandchildren, Cassidy Cobillas, Addison Hillard, Jonathan Shafer, Jackson Shafer, and Abigail (Jake) Ricer; her sister-in-law, Betty Reed; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Lorene (Bill) Foreman and Ardell (Harold) Baker, her brother, Robert Bonecutter, and her niece, Julie Metzger Vogt.

Friends and family may come to honor her life at a memorial service held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 starting at 3:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Nathan R. McBeth officiating.
