Obituary

Sharon Brown Obituary Sharon L. Brown, age 78, long-time Shelby resident, passed away November 14, 2024, at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born May 22, 1946, in Columbus to the late Raymond C. and Vera L. (Smith) Marshall. She attended Shelby City Schools graduating from Shelby High School in the class of 1964. Her work career included working as a reference clerk at Marvin Memorial Library, floral designer at Tuttle the Florist, and church secretary for the United Church of Christ. Sharon went back to school and earned her master's degree in Floral Design from Hickson's Floral Design School in Lakewood, OH. She continued working as a florist until her retirement in 2001. Sharon was a woman of strong faith. As a devout follower of Christ, she was the first woman ever to serve on Church Council at First Lutheran Church. Sharon was delighted and proud when she was appointed as the interior decorator for the First Lutheran Church in Shelby. The appointment included the complete redecoration of the facility, where she was able to put on display her artistic and stylish abilities. She was an amazingly talented artist capable of making anything that came to mind. Not only could she produce the most beautiful paintings, but her artistic ability spilled over into her work as a florist as well as into her own flower garden at home. She was very pleased to have done all the wedding flowers for her daughter's wedding. Sharon enjoyed being a member of the Mind Benders Mother's Club for many years. She and her husband George belonged to the Sandusky Sailing Club where they met many friends over the years and enjoyed spending many wonderful summers on Lake Erie on their sailboat the 'Better Knot'. When they were not sailing on Lake Erie, Sharon and George could be found at their home away from home at the Outer banks in Buxton, North Carolina. Sharon was a natural caregiver for her family and friends, always willing to give up anything at a moment's notice to lend a helping hand. Her love for her family knew no bounds. She adored her grandchildren and loved spoiling them rotten. Her caring and loving personality will be missed by all that knew her and remembered forever. Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, George Brown, whom she wed on October 2, 1964,; two children, Danielle (Spence) Hamilton of Ashland, OH, and Christopher Brown of Shelby; and four grandchildren; Dakota Hamilton, Zachary Brown, Gabrielle Hamilton, and A'Jream 'A.J.' Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Clyde C. Hodges. A private funeral ceremony was held for the family at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory.
