Steven Ray Lykins, age 60 and resident of Shelby died Friday January 20, 2017 at his home after a short illness. Born March 9, 1956 in Shelby to Dwight Lee Lykins and Betty Morjana (Hoak) Will, he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. Steve attended Shelby Senior High School with the class of 1975 and was an Electrician for over 30 years. Steve enjoyed playing guitar, wood carving, gardening and rock climbing having climbed at, among others, Yosemite and Joshua Tree National Parks in California, Red River Gorge Kentucky, Acadia National Park in Maine, The Gunks and Adirondack Park in New York, Pilot Mountain and Table Rock in North Carolina, Custer State Park in South Dakota, Seneca Rocks and New River Gorge in West Virginia, and Devils Tower in Wyoming. He is survived by his wife Traci (Landers) Lykins whom he wed October 7, 1990; one daughter, Alecia Goulet of Mansfield; two sons, Steve (Marta) Lykins of Bellville and Tyler Lykins of Polk; six grandsons, Vince, Luke, Noah, Joseph, Samuel, and Steven Ray Jr.; two sisters, Janalee (Harold) Smith of Butler and Kelly Gouge of Lexington; one brother, Larry (Barb) Lykins of Des Moines, Iowa.; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. A short service will be held at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio Health Hospice of Mansfield or Ronald McDonald House of Akron, Ohio.
