Terry Gene Laney, age 66, of Crestline, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family he cherished so deeply.

He was born on January 5, 1960, in Willard, Ohio, to the late Dave Jr. and Millie (Laney). He was a proud member of the Plymouth High School Class of 1978.

Terry was a man who could do a little bit of everything and was happiest when he was keeping his hands and mind busy. He loved to tinker, whether it was working with wood, figuring out something mechanical, or taking on an electrical project. If something needed fixed, built, or simply figured out, Terry was usually willing to give it a try. His curiosity and determination were part of what made him who he was.

Many knew Terry by his CB handle, “Ridge Runner.” He enjoyed talking on the radio, meeting people, and never seemed to run out of something to say. He was also a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, standing by his Browns and Guardians through the good, the bad, and plenty of frustrating seasons. He loved his teams and never gave up on them. Music was another special part of Terry’s life. He had a beautiful voice and loved singing old country and gospel songs, especially the music of George Jones and the other greats. His family will always treasure the sound of his voice and the songs he loved to sing.

Above all, Terry loved his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones were the most important part of his life. He found joy in the simple moments spent together, and those memories will be cherished forever.

Terry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tammy Renee Laney, whom he wed on February 13, 2006; his children, John (Taylor) Laney, Nick Fuller, Jamie (Justin) Tackett, and Sandra (Robert) Cook, eleven grandchildren, Aaron, Aurora, Averie, Zander, Keegan, Brayden, Ryder, Braxton, Mackenzie, Hezekiah, and Alex; his babysister, Debra (Ronnie) Burton; and sister-in-law, Tina (Richard) Mitchell.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brothers, David Dean, Richard, and Jeff Laney; sisters-in-law, Jan Laney and Cindy (Bo) Isaac; and his beloved daughter, Kandi Cook.

Friends and family may come to honor Terry's life at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. with a funeral service to follow officiated by Dr. Ricky Branham.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made out to the Laney Family in the care of Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory to assist with funeral expenses.
