Obituary

Thomas Mawhinney Obituary Thomas Clinton Mawhinney, age 81, resident of Dearborn, MI, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in the care of Angela's Hospice at Allegria Village. Born February 27, 1942, Tom had been a resident of Dearborn, Michigan for the last 20 years or more. Tom had a long and successful career for over 35 years as a Professor of Human Resources Management at the University of Detroit Mercy. His work was published in many business journals and academies. Tom earned his B.A. and M.S. degrees from the University of South Florida and his Ph.D. from the Ohio State University. Tom served his country during the Vietnam War for the United States Army. Tom and his wife Betty lived for many years at 10 Danvers Lane in the Foundation in Dearborn. The two lived a long and happy life together They will both be greatly missed by their friends and family. Thomas is survived by his brother Jim (Shortie); the family of his beloved late wife Betty including her first cousins, Audrey Dotson of Shelby, and Jeanette Stidham of Hilton Head Island, SC; her second cousins, Tim (Sonia) Terry of Shelby, Tom (Donna) Terry of Prescott, Arizona, Jake Stidham and Janice Stidham both of Hilton Head. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and good friends in many states. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth 'Betty' Crall Mawhinney in 2022. A memorial service is pending with the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery at a later date. The Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
