Velva Johnson Obituary Velva Mae Johnson, age 80, died Monday March 15, 2021 at her residence in Shiloh. Born December 16, 1940 in Salyersville, KY to Arvel and Eva Shepherd, she was a Shiloh area resident for the majority of her life. Velva was a loving homemaker and attended the Pentecostal Holiness House of Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her plants, cooking and collecting dolls. A devout Christian, she was a very caring person who loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her beloved husband Denver Johnson whom she wed June 5, 1956; her children Christopher Johnson of Shiloh, Donald Johnson of Plymouth, Arvel Johnson and Robin Postema, Morgan (Margaret) Johnson of Shiloh, Jody (Jennifer) Johnson of Greenwich, Alan (Tammie) Johnson of Shelby, Marie (David) Stephens of Plymouth and Angel Lewis of Plymouth; 30 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; three brothers Roger (Rita) Shepherd of Shiloh, Arvel Jr. (Dorcas) Shepherd of Canada, Issac (Betty) Shepherd of Chatfield; sisters Evelyn Barnett of Greenwich, Ella Williams of Greenwich, Sally (Jim) Winningham of Shelby, Elsie (Norman) Reed of New Haven and Alice Fletcher of Tiro; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter Eva Bradford, infant son Denver Johnson Jr., twin bothers Abraham and Daniel Shepherd and one sister Mable Buffington. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday March 18, 2021 at the Pentecostal Holiness House of Fellowship in Celeryville. Pastor David Beverage and Pastor David Montgomery will officiate with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Friends may call Thursday at the church before the funeral service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
