Virginia Hicks Obituary Virginia Hicks, age 87, resident of Shelby, passed away December 24, 2021, surrounded by her family at home. Born January 8, 1934, to Joseph Alexander Patton and Lillian Ellen (Dillon) Barnett in Morehead, Kentucky, she had been a lifelong Shelby resident. Virginia was a proud homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, as well as family and friends. She enjoyed watching TV and working on puzzles. Survivors include one son Lester G. Hicks; four daughters, Wendy L. Hicks of Shelby, Tammy Norman of Willard, Joyce (Bob) Price and Jean Patrick of Mansfield, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Margie (Shelby) Gillam of Castalia, Ohio; brother Tom Patton of Punta Gorta, Florida; and other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester Hicks in 1985; an infant brother; an infant sister Joyce; two grandsons; 3 brother-in-laws Ray, Lenza, and Chester Hicks; 8 sister-in-laws Geneva Wallace of Shelby, Gracie Stidham and Sarah Wallace of Morehead, KY, Dorothy (James) Roach of Perrysburg, VA, Rose Galik of Columbus, Cora Stidam, Reba Dickerson and Willie Mae Hicks. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM from the Barkdull Funeral Home, her brother-in-law Pastor Shelby Gillam will officiate.
