Wanda S. Bittinger, age 59, resident of Second St., Shelby died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Born January 23, 1948 in Mingo County, Lando Mines, WV to Clyde R. and Trula Mae (Hess) Maynard she had been a Shelby resident since 1966. A 1966 graduate of Burch High School, Delbarton, WV she was employed for many years with Bowsher's Bakery and 13 years with Great Scot, Inc. In 1999 she opened Wanda's West Side Pizza, which she currently owned and operated. Wanda was a kind-hearted person who never met a stranger. She was a hardworker with strong family ties. Spending time with her family was her passion and she especially enjoyed the togetherness of their camping vacations. Survivors include her husband, Greg Bittinger, whom she wed December 29, 1979; one son and daughter-in-law, Scot and Michelle Bittinger of Mansfield; one daughter, Lisa Bittinger Atwell of Shelby; two granddaughters, Serenity Atwell and Justice Bittinger; six brothers and three sisters-in-law; Clyde and Thelma Maynard of Dayton; Charles and Louise Maynard of Medina; Jim Maynard of Dayton, Doug and Ted Maynard, both of Shelby; and Richard and Marie Hess of Varney, WV; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Hensley Mitchell and Alice and Bob Jordan, all of Shelby; numerous nieces; nephews; and other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billie and Roy Maynard, one sister, Fran Dunkin and her father-in-law, Thomas Bittinger. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 15 from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Eddie Douglas will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to the family.
