William 'Bill' Baird Obituary William 'Bill' Henry Baird, age 83, died Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. Born on March 16, 1937 in Shelby to Virgil and Florence (Stroup) Baird, he was a lifelong Shelby resident. Bill was employed at Carton Service for 32 years where he retired in 2002. A member of the First Lutheran Church, Bill was also a member of the Farm Bureau, the Buckeye Iron Will Club and the Hazel Grove Farm Bureau Council. He was a passionate farmer who enjoyed going to tractor shows and driving his tractor in the Shelby & Shiloh parades. For many years, he was a caretaker for Myers Cemetery and had been involved with the Morton One Room School House, where he had sat on their board. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Smith) Baird whom he wed on June 20, 1959; son Roger (Teresa) Baird of Shelby; daughter Dianne (Steve) Risch of Westerville, OH; grandchildren Adam Risch of Chattanooga, TN and Jacob Risch of Estes Park, CO; siblings, Doris Berdanier of Shelby, Howard (Marjorie) Baird of Shelby and Sally (Philip) Niedermier of Tiro; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Nace Berdanier.
