Betty Reed Obituary

Betty Jean Reed , age 77, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Ohio Health Hospital in Mansfield .

Born March 27, 1943 in Shelby to Everett and Cora (Hicks) Stidam, she was a Shelby resident for many years, most recently residing in Ashland. She obtained her CNA in 1994 and was employed as a home health hospice aid. Betty was a wonderful care giver all her life. She loved to help provide care, support and love to many aging seniors as well as her family.

Betty enjoyed to swim, she always loved the water. She was an avid Christian and believer in Christ. Her faith in Jesus was matched by no other. Her favorite book of the bible was Psalms. She loved her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She loved spending time with her family. She loved her freedom and spending time exploring, going to garage sales and collecting trinkets of brass and copper. She always valued her freedom and independence. She was the kind of person that would do anything for anyone oblivious to her own needs. She was exceptionally brave and wasn’t afraid of any challenge. Betty Reed leaving this world has made the world a little poorer. She was a fierce mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The impact that she leaves behind will reverberate through generations, she’s left a legacy standard that all should strive to achieve.

She is survived by her children Brett (Deb) Reed and Darren (Becky) Reed all of St. John, KS, Gold Daniel (Shelia) Reed of Macksville, KS, Daphne Reed and Lisa (Terry) Slaughter all of Pratt, KS and Donna (Robert) Riley of Cunningham, KS; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; siblings Charles (Rosie) Stidam of Spokane, WA, David Stidam of OH, Marvin Stidam of Cleveland, TN, Rose (John) Mlay of Tucson, AZ, Carolyn Kline of Ashland, Martha (Bill) DeMuth and JoAnn (Rick) Frank both of Shelby, Linda Reed of Willard, OH; sister in law Norine Stidam;  numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
