David Grimmer, age 80 resident of Shelby, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.
Born September 28, 1940 in Plymouth to Perry Grimmer and Ellen (McGinty) Grimmer-Baker, he was a life long Shelby resident. A veteran of the Airforce, he was stationed in Rota, Spain where he started a rodeo and later met his beloved wife Maria "Luci". He was employed as a Millwright for Copperweld in Shelby and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Moose, AMVets, Owls and the Eagles. A second generation carpenter who had an amazing talent for woodworking, David was a jack of all trades and enjoyed hunting, boating at Lake Erie and golfing. David was Luci's, Archie Bunker. And above all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Maria Luz Riano-Paniagua "Luci" whom he wed on February 14, 1961; his children Fred Grimmer of Mansfield, Luz (David) Reiman of Mansfield and Sara Wooldridge of Ontario; eight grandchildren, Brandon Grimmer, Christina Mahon-West, Chevi and Colt Wooldridge, Jacob, Joshua, Rick and April Bays; numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jean Mckee; baby brother Roger Grimmer; brother Donald Grimmer; grandson Brandon Bays, son-in-law Mark Wooldridge; infant great-granddaughter Lillian Bays and step-father Fleet Baker.
Private family graveside services will be held in Shauck Cemetery.
