Donald "Don" Bird Obituary

After a short and unexpected illness, and a strong courageous battle, Donald Carveth Bird went to his forever home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Broward Health General Hospital, Coral Springs, Florida at the age of 71.  During his short illness, he had been surrounded by much love from his family and friends.  Don was born to Martha E. (Barton) Bird and Clarence R. Bird on July 3, 1950, in Mansfield, Ohio and spent the early years of his life in Shelby, Ohio.  After graduating from Shelby Senior High School in 1968, Don proudly served his country from 1968 - 1972 earning an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army.

In 1978, Don married Georgia Amato and started his family, remaining in Shelby for several years until relocating to the place he loved most - Florida.  Being in the hot weather and the sunshine was where he always wanted to be.  Don loved life, his family, and his many friends.  He never met a stranger.  To Don, no one was a stranger, just a friend he hadn't yet spoken with.  He also loved music.  Growing up, and throughout his young adult life in the 60's and 70's, he always enjoyed listening to music which became his lifelong passion.  In recent years, you could count on finding Don sitting on his back patio listening to music of all genres, but music of the 60's and 70's was timeless, and he thought they were the best!

Don is survived by his wife Sira Bird of Coral Springs, Florida, who he married in 2010; stepson, Krishna McNeishie of Coral Springs, Florida; daughter Alicia (James) Pine of Republic, Ohio; son Jeremy Bird (Danielle) of Attica, Ohio; and daughter Lindsey Bird of Bellevue, Ohio; four grandchildren, Hunter Pine (Alicia); Hannah Bird (Jeremy); Landen Nobles and Gavin Amato (Lindsey); and his sister Karen (Richard) Watts of Lago Vista, Texas; niece Michele Rabold Milivojac of Lago Vista, Texas; and nephew Jarrod (Rochelle) Rabold of Jarrell, Texas.  He is also survived by several great nieces, nephews and many loving friends.  Don was preceded in death by his father Clarence R. Bird, mother Martha E. Bird, and brother Richard E. Bird.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Babione -   Kraeer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33432, and interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30pm at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
