Doyle E. Whited

Doyle E.Whited, age 85, resident of Shelby died Friday, June 4, 2021 at Avita Health Systems of Ontario.

He was born on May 15, 1936 to Luther Winferd and Daisy (Plaster) Whited in Swords Creek, VA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1954-1959. Doyle was employed as a forklift driver with General Motors, retiring in 1992 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed deer hunting, and he coached Little League for twelve years and was the president of the Little League for two. Doyle attended Taylortown Community Church and was a member of the American Legion #326 and the UAW.

Doyle  is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Hughes) Whited whom he married on October 15, 1960; his three children, Edward (Linda) Whited of Shelby, Rhonda (Rick) Lozier of Mansfield, Doyle Eugene (Cindy) Whited, II of Marysville; his six grandchildren Colby Whited, Callan Whited, Lane (Becca) Whited, Alexi (Austin) Eckert, Brienna Whited, and Jacob Whited; three great-grandchildren, Luke and Dalton Bailey, and Paige Whited all of Shelby; his 5 siblings, Caffie (Jimmy) West of Bristol, VA,  Judy Plaster, Manasses, VA, Greta (Glen) Owens of Honaker, VA, Larry (Linda) Whited of Swords Creek, VA, and Joyce Whited-Flanner of Tazewell, VA; 2 sister-in-laws Pat Whited and  Tina Whited both of Swords Creek, VA; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers Roland and Ronnie Whited.

Friends and family may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 1:00PM. Pastor Doug Tackett will officiate with interment at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
