Ethel L. Kress, 84, resident of Shelby died Tuesday July 3, 2018 at her home. Born July 2, 1934 in New Washington to Floyd and Olive (Crum) Pry she had lived in the Tiro area for many years and had been a Shelby resident in recent years. She was a 1952 graduate of Crestline High School. Ethel was employed with Kroger's as customer service coordinator retiring in 1989.
She was an active member of the Tiro United Methodist Church where she had served as treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and had sung in the choir. In addition she was a member of the Crestline Business and Professional Women's Club.
Ethel enjoyed playing Bingo, working on puzzles and word finds and bead making. Also, she constructed wood crafts which she would sell at flea markets. She loved taking bus trips, especially to the casinos. She along with her husband Gene will be fondly remembered for hosting family and friends at their Tiro home on New Haven Rd.
Surviving are her husband Eugene Kress with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 13, 2018; son Doug (Karen) Kress of Sunbury, OH; one brother Raymond (Eileen) Pry of Toledo, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Geraldine Kelso and her step-father Martin Egner.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday July 6, 2018 from the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory. Reverend Mister Roger Pry will officiate with a private family interment in Tiro Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
