Frederick Travis Plew

Frederick "Travis" Plew, age 28, resident of Shelby, died unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident Wednesday, March 15, 2023. 

Born November 22, 1994, in Ashland, to Garry E. Plew and Kelly J. (Garron) Mitchell, he had been a Mansfield area resident until 2020 when he relocated to Shelby. Travis was most recently employed with K & A Tree Service and had previously worked as a roofing constructor and loved doing that type of job. He was a hard worker and made sure his family was taken care of. 

On the outside Travis had a strong, tough guy image, but he was a true kid at heart. He enjoyed being goofy and was really a big teddy bear. Travis was always willing to play with the kids and was the biggest kid of them all. He had his priorities in order and was focused on his family. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and father. Travis was always into something, he loved big kid toys, and everything that made noise, motorcycles, tinkering, and playing video games. His fun loving, goofy personality will be greatly missed and forever remembered. 

Survivors include his mother, longtime girlfriend and the love of his life, Shannon Shepherd; children, Caleb and Logan Plew; siblings, Justin Plew of Crestline, Amber (Jeff) Alfrey of Shelby, Adam Bond of Springfield, and Alyssa Plew of Ashland; his best friend, Trent Kniceley as well as many other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father. 

Calling hours will be held from the Barkdull Funeral Home Monday March 20, 2023, from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor James Robinson officiating.

In honor of Travis, the family requests that guests dress casually for services. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Barkdull Funeral Home.
