George Smith, Jr., age 83, died on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Colonial Manor in Loudonville.
Born on September 15, 1936 in Pike County Kentucky to George Sr. and Bessie (Duty) Smith, he was a resident of Mansfield since 1955. He was a 1955 graduate of Magnolia High School in West Virginia, and was employed at AK Steel for 36 years, where he retired in 1992. George was a member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed watching Christian movies, listening to Christian music, reading his bible, being outside, and teaching Sunday school. Above all he was a loving family man who loved taking lots of vacations.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte Pauline (Stevens) Smith, whom he wed on November 2, 1957; sons, Mike (Kimberly) Smith of Ootlewan,Tennessee, Melvin (Trina) Smith of Jupiter, Florida, Mickey (Megan) Smith of Gahana, Ohio; daughter Paula Earlywine of Crestline, Ohio; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother Dairl Smith from Mansfield, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his son Marcus Allen Smith; one bother Billy Ray Smith; sisters, Madeline Fields and Louise Orren.
Private family services will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery officiated by Glenn Phillips.
