Harold M. Baker, age 91, died Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Kobacker House Nursing Facility in Columbus.
Born December 20, 1929 in Galion to Rinehart and Edna (Cronenwett) Baker, he had been a Shelby resident since 1961. A 1949 graduate of Galion High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
Harold was employed in maintenance with the mechanical device division with General Motors retiring in 1993 following 37 years of service. He was a member of the Shelby First Baptist Church. Harold enjoyed camping, working on garden tractors, woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son David (Melissa) Baker of Galion, his son-in-law Cory Vogt of Shelby; grandchildren Maxwell (Abby) Baker and Emily Baker, Jonathan Metzger (Alyssa Pasterchek) and Justin (Morgan) Metzger; great-grandson Bennett Baker and a grandson one on the way; sisters June Baker and Iva Mahler; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce "Ardell" Baker; daughter Julie Metzger Vogt; granddaughter Ashley Metzger; siblings Art Baker and May Shumaker.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday January 21, 2021 from the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby . Pastor Brad Gentille will officiate with interment in Oakland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 185 S. Gamble St., Shelby, OH. 44875.
