Irene A. Phillips, age 93, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Crestwood Care Center.
Born Jan. 29, 1927 in Shelby to Oscar and Agnes (Sifferlin) Frontz she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 326 and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and also attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sulphur Springs. Irene enjoyed crocheting, cooking, making crafts, playing cards, and was a volunteer for many civic organization in and around Shelby.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Phillips, Dennis (Teresa) Phillips all of Shelby; three daughters, Laura (Randy) Hopkins of Shelby; Sharon Etler of Mansfield and Carol Holloway of Galion; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Freda Childress of Mansfield; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus L. Phillips in 1988; infant son, David Phillips; infant daughter, Regina Phillips six sisters, Anna Pieffer, Marcella Souder, Lavina Conkey, Helen Harvey, Rose Fairchild and Clara Frontz; two brothers Earl and Gerald Frontz.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 4, 2020 at 11 AM at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
