James B. Stephens

James Buchanan Stephens, age 75, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his home in Plymouth, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

Born June 14, 1946, to Arthur and Mollie (Vanderpool) Stephens in Willard, Ohio. Currently retired, he was employed with Plymouth Locomotive and Voisard Manufacturing. 

James was a member of the Bluegrass Hideaway. He loved singing, playing his guitar, and harmonica. His favorite type of music to both listen to and sing was bluegrass gospel. Along with his sons, James enjoyed racing hobby stock race cars at Sandusky Speedway. He was always pleased to find a good fishing spot and spend the day outside. James also enjoyed gardening and being with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Stephens, whom he married June 30, 1964; his children, Richard (Wanda) Stephens of Shiloh, Robert (Jan) Stephens of Greenwich, Vicky (Henry Jr.) Hale of Plymouth, Sarah (Rich) Juhlke of Mansfield; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gladys Fliger of Mansfield, Charles Stephens of Plymouth,  Clara Sexton of Willard, Betty Goble of Shelby, Alma Kegley of Shelby, and Wanda Alonzo of Shelby; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Florence Crawford; brother Kenneth Stephens; sister Lula Sexton; brother Frank Stephens; grandsons Richard Lee Stephens II and Joshua Lee Hale. 

Calling hours will be held at the House of Fellowship; 7907 OH-103, Plymouth, OH 44865, Friday, May 13, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A funeral service will be Saturday, May 14 at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Beverage officiating at the church. Interment will take place immediately following the service in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh, OH.
