Jean Williams Obituary

Jean Ann Williams, age 98, passed away peacefully Friday, November 5, 2021 at The Village of St. Edward in Wadsworth.

Born October 4, 1923 in Shelby to Russell and Agnes (Taylor) Pemberton, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. A 1941 graduate of  Shelby High School, Jean Ann then attended Mt. Sinai College of Nursing in Cleveland where she obtained her degree and became a registered nurse in 1945. She worked for the Shelby Hospital for numerous years prior to working at Pioneer Career and Technology Center as a School Nurse, retiring in 1980.

Jean Ann was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Shelby and the Beta Kappa Tau Sorority. She served on the Public Health Board and volunteered her time with the Red Cross and as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Between the years of 1942-1945 Jean Ann had served in the US Army Cadet Nursing Corps. She enjoyed flower gardening, being around the water and taking trips to the lake. She was a "MacGyver" and could figure out and fix anything. Above all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her three children, Craig (Sue) Williams of Perrysville, Paula Maier of Sylvania, and Janet (Denny) Bemiller of Wadsworth; three grandchildren Brian (Heather) Bemiller of Wadsworth, Katie (Dave) Budas of Sylvania, and Kevin (Katie) Bemiller of Medina; six great grandchildren Samantha and Jack Budas, Brynn, Brooklynn, Kailia and Kaydin Bemiller; sister Eleanor Broomhall of Ontario.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Williams and son-in-law Michael Maier.

Visiting hours will be held 10:30 AM-12:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Monday, November 15, 2021. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Reverend Daniel Orr will officiate with interment held in Oakland Cemetery.
