Jerome Kurtz

Jerome Kurtz age 47, resident of Shelby died Thursday, October 28, 2021 at OhioHealth Shelby following a brief illness.

Born September 16, 1974 in Shelby to Michael Kurtz and Deborah (Bowman) Stidam, he was a lifelong resident of Shelby. A 1993 graduate of Shelby High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center in Machine Trades, he was a former employee at Ralph Manufacturing. He was currently employed at KFC. 

Jerome was a devout born again Christian and loved the Lord. He was an avid sports fan and former Captain of the Shelby Whippets football team. Jerome was a star athlete and excelled in baseball, football, and basketball. He enjoyed supporting Ohio sports teams and attending sporting events, especially the Shelby whippets, where he had never missed a game. With his outgoing personality, he had many friends and will be missed by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his father Randy Stidam; daughter Savannah Kurtz of Shelby; siblings Natasha Stidam, Tim Stidam, Colton Stidam, Cassidy Stidam, Tristan Stidam, Jaylyn Stidam, Emily Stidam, Evan Stidam, Bradon Stidam, Joehannah Fisher-Stidam, Brissani Stidam, Madison Kegley; Brandi Kurtz, Melanie Kurtz, Josh Kurtz, Michelle Kurtz; step-mother Jodi Royer Hoffman; former wife Crystal (Woods) Kurtz; numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives. 

He was preceded in death by his biological mother and father.

Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Reverend Art Kennard will officiate with interment held in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. A live stream of the service will be available at https://www.facebook.com/BarkdullFH at 10:30AM Wednesday.
