Jewell Lewis, age 92, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 22, 1928 in Morgan County Kentucky to Frank Press and Myrtle (Pugh) Bailey, she was a resident of Huron County since 1962. A proud homemaker and preachers wife, Jewell's passion was serving the Lord. She along with her husband Rev. Arna pastored the Empire Church of Deliverance in Mansfield and was a member of the Shelby Church of God. Jewell was a talented seamstress and an amazing cook. She enjoyed her crafts and was especially proud of her garden and flowers. She loved all her family and has a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, Mitchel (Sheila) Prater of North Fairfield, OH, James (Linda) Prater of North Fairfield, OH and Rev. Rick (Connie) Lewis of Shelby; two daughters, Reda Mae Harper of West Liberty, KY and Lena (Ronnie) Roach of North Fairfield, OH; brother Woodford (Wanda) Bailey of Blanchester, OH; son-in-law John Dalzell of Huber Heights, OH; daughter-in-law Linda Prater of Huntsville, AL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Arna Lewis whom she married on March 19, 1962; two sons Dean Lewis and Garner Prater; daughter Leara Dalzell; one granddaughter Amanda Porter; one great granddaughter Tiffanie Fressenden; one great-great granddaughter Aurora Page Dodson; numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Church of God, London West Road in Shelby. Reverends Rick Lewis and Mitchel Prater, her sons, will officiate with interment in North Fairfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church Saturday, January 30th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
