Jodiviah "Joey" Stepp Jr.

Jodiviah "Joey" Stepp Jr., age 55, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Marion General Hospital. 

Born December 23, 1965 in Shelby to Jodiviah "Joe" Sr. and Della (Stamper) Stepp, he was a thirty year resident of Columbus before moving back to Shelby in 2019. A 1984 graduate of Shelby High School, he attended the Ohio State University for Theater and Arts. Joe was a  veteran of the Air National Guard serving for 23 years and was owner/operator of the "Stepp Up" painting company for many years. He loved acting and was also employed as an actor in TV commercials and movies. Joe was a member of the Shelby American Legion Post #326 and the former Shelby Jaycees. He enjoyed collecting Star Wars memorabilia, and was a lover of animals, especially his dogs.  

He is survived by his father Joe Stepp of Shelby; two uncles Jim (Mary Jo) Stepp of Shelby and Grover Stepp of Oceana W.VA.; one aunt Janet (Daryl) Keller of Shelby; several cousins and other relatives and his canine companions Roscoe and Blondie. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Della Stepp in 2019. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 10:30 AM at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Pastor Mark Myers will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home Friday, March 26 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. 

The family has requested that to offset funeral expenses, memorial contributions may be made in care of Barkdull Funeral Home; 33 N. Gamble St,  P.O Box 644, Shelby OH 44875.
