John Stiteler, age 80, resident of Shelby, passed away Friday morning, October 1, 2021 at his home.
Born February 23, 1941 in Shelby to Frank and Ruth (Corbin) Stiteler, he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. He had served four years for the United States Air force in the Strategic Air command unit. He later drove truck, and driven through all 48 states as well as 3 providences of Canada, before retiring as a driver for Charter Vans Inc. in Dayton. John was a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Shelby, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Clariene (Russell) Stiteler, whom he wed October 6 1962; one son, John (Tina) Stiteler, Jr.; two daughters Diana (Jeff) Erickson and Sharon (Ron) Noel, Jr.; sisters-in-law Billie Jean Stiteler and Luella Conley; brother-in-law Ellsworth (Evelyn) Russell; eight grandchildren Matthew (Kristin) Erickson, Brian (Sherill) Erickson, Ryan Stiteler, Jessica (Earl “Bud”) Ferguson, Julianna Stiteler, Amber (Josh) Basco, Jason Noel and Brandon Noel, both serving in the United States Navy; three step-grandchildren, Natasha (Derek) Ganghuff, Jose and Laural Garza; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Larry Stiteler, grandson David Erickson; sister Sara (Bob) Harley, and Lois (Don) Austin, Brother Bill Stiteler; brother-in-law James Russell; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ray and Henrietta (Garrett) Russell; nieces and nephews.
Per Johns requests, services will not be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund.
