Juanita Patton Obituary

Juanita Patton, age 83, died following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland, OH with her loving husband by her side.

She was born on April 21, 1940, in Mariba, KY to Troy and Irene (Adkins) Lawson and moved to Shelby, OH in 1957. She loved to share stories about living on Third Street and opening her home to neighboring children, nieces and nephews. Some of her fondest memories include the chaos of raising children. She was a true caretaker at heart.  Her home also served as a safe haven for animals. She never met a cat she didn't love or try to name.  She truly dedicated her life to serving others.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy Patton whom she married on June 30, 1958, her children; Cindy Smith (Mike) of Pittsford, MI, Trina Elkins of Murfreesboro, TN, Robert Patton (Sandra) of Mansfield, and Tamara Farley (Chuck) of Mansfield, siblings; Carolyn Ratliff, Edith Clark, Leoma Turner, and Judy Bailey, eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Mike Patton, grandson Matthew Patton, brothers; Virgil Lykins, Donald Lykins, Warren Lawson, Roger Lawson and sisters; Reva Lawson, Stella Lawson, and Loretta Mumpower.

Per Juanita's wishes, a private family service was held on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Internment was held in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Forgotten Felines of Richland County, Ohio Inc. In Care of Carla Waleri at 717 Westview Blvd. Mansfield, OH 44907.
