Leonard A. Shick, age 67, resident of Shelby died Thursday January 7, 2021 in Arbors at Mifflin Nursing Home in Mansfield.
Born December 17, 1953 in Mansfield to Ruth Marie Shick, he had been a resident of Shelby for many years. A 1972 graduate of Galion High School, he also attended the North Central State College. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy and served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Tattnall DDG 19 as a Gunners Mate Missileman. He was employed with Miami Systems and was a driver for U.S. Cargo.
Leonard was a member of the Shelby Jaycees and was the Ohio Jaycees District H-1 Director from 1986 to 1987. He was a Boy Scout and had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Leonard enjoyed camping, being outdoors and reading Stephen King novels. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Debbie (Foreman) Shick whom he wed February 17, 1973; three sons, Christopher Owen (Charisse) Shick of Mansfield, Brian Dale Shick of Mansfield and Eric James (Peggy) Shick of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Hannah and Mackenzie Shick, Tiffany Ringler, Mykenna, Chloe and Caroline Schlorb; mother-in-law Dorothy Foreman and brother-in-law Terry Foreman both of Shelby and other relatives.
In addition to his mother, He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Marie Shick, father-in-law, William D. Foreman and grandson, Alexander W. Shick.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday January 12, 2021 from the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Russel Yoak will officiate with interment in Oakland cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church, 33 Broadway, Shelby, OH. 44875.
