Levi Jones, age 82, resident of Galion, passed away Friday October 22, 2021 at the Avita Galion Hospital. Born June 29, 1939 in Dorchester, VA to the late John William and Maude Elizabeth (Stidum) Jones, he had been a resident of Galion since the late 1960s.
Levi was first employed with Galion Iron Works and was later employed with HPM in Mt. Gilead where he retired in 1997. He enjoyed watching football, especially the New England Patriots, attending dog and horse races and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Teamsters and United Auto Workers.
Survivors include his wife Marie (Durant) of Galion; three children, Douglas (Sondra) Jones of Galion, Kenneth (Christina) Jones of Brighton, MI, and Scott (Jennifer) Jones of Galion; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Levi was preceded in death by a daughter, Loriann M. (Jones) Barker; two sisters; six brothers.
Private funeral services will be held for Levi on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Pastor Russ Smith of the Wesley Evangelical Church of Shiloh will officiate. Levi will be laid to rest alongside his daughter in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
