M. Lee Uppinghouse

M. Lee Uppinghouse, age 76, died on Monday, February 24, 2020 at her residence in Shelby.

Born on November 2, 1943 in Richlands, VA to Gaines and Audrey Irene (Smith) Fields, she was a resident of California for over 30 years before moving to Shelby. A 1961 graduate of Shelby High School, she was a LPN, and had been employed with National O-ring in California before to working at Therma Disk in Mansfield. Lee was known as a giver, always taking care of her family and helping raise her great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children Dixie (William) Bursley of Galion and Tracy (Scott) Putnam of California; seven grandchildren, Robert, Nicole, Tama, Joshua, Jeramy, Heather and Courtney; five great-grandchildren, Braylan, Castiella, Layla, Carson and Roman; siblings, Mary Ketterman of Michigan, Nancy (Joe Saure) Ingram of North Carolina, Wanda Laney of Shelby, Gaines Jackson Fields, Jr. of Chillicothe and Sid (Brenda) Fields of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson Jonathan Dodd and her brother Donald Fields. 

Calling Hours will not be observed. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory. Reverend Mayor Steven Schag will officiate with interment in Sandusky Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Barkdull Funeral Home to help offset funeral costs.
